Who Was Saint Charbel?
Saint Charbel Makhlouf was born in Lebanon in 1828 and entered the Monastery of Saint Maron, devoting his life to Prayer, silence, Humility, and complete surrender to God. He lived as a hermit for the final years of his life, spending long hours in Prayer and fasting, and died in 1898. In the years that followed, remarkable testimonies of Healing drew pilgrims from around the world to Annaya, Lebanon — and he became affectionately known as the “Miracle Monk of Lebanon.” He was beatified in 1965 and canonised by Pope Paul VI in 1977.
Today, Saint Charbel is one of the most beloved saints of the Maronite Catholic Church and is venerated by Christians around the world who seek his prayerful Intercession — particularly in matters of Physical Healing, Chronic Illness, and Spiritual Renewal. Pilgrims continue to travel to the Monastery of Saint Maron in Annaya, entrusting their most difficult situations to God through his faithful Intercession.
