A Sacred Symbol of Healing, Compassion and Trust in God
“Sometimes, when words are hard to find, a small gift given with Faith can quietly say everything that matters.”
When life brings cancer, serious illness, surgery, or seasons of deep uncertainty, many Christians turn to Saint Peregrine and Our Lady of Sorrows in Prayer, seeking Healing, Comfort, and the reassurance that God’s love is always near. This beautifully crafted Saint Peregrine & Our Lady of Sorrows Religious Medal is a meaningful reminder of Faith, Hope, and Trust in God.
This double-sided Religious Medal features Saint Peregrine Laziosi standing in his Servite habit, arms open in a gesture of Prayer, inscribed “St. Peregrine — Pray for Us” on the front. The reverse honours Our Lady of Sorrows (Mater Dolorosa) — a tender portrait of Mary with bowed head, inscribed “Mater Dolorosa” (Mother of Sorrows), a prayerful reminder of her compassionate presence beside those who suffer. Crafted from durable polished metal, this Saint Peregrine Medal is perfectly sized to wear on a chain or carry in a pocket, wallet, or prayer journal.
Who Was Saint Peregrine?
Saint Peregrine Laziosi was born in Forlì, Italy, in 1260 and, after a profound encounter with Saint Philip Benizi, joined the Servite Order and devoted himself to a life of Prayer, Humility, and Penance. According to Catholic tradition, Saint Peregrine developed a severe disease in his leg that physicians believed required amputation. The night before the scheduled surgery, he spent the night in Prayer before a crucifix and experienced a vision of Christ. When the doctors examined him the following morning, they found he had been miraculously healed. He died in 1345 and was canonised in 1726.
For generations, this account has inspired Christians to seek Saint Peregrine’s intercession when praying for those facing Cancer, Serious Illness, and difficult medical conditions. Today, Saint Peregrine is widely known as the Patron Saint of Cancer Patients and those facing serious illness — one of the most beloved intercessors for those entrusting their healing to God’s care.
Who Is Our Lady of Sorrows?
Our Lady of Sorrows (Mater Dolorosa) honours the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title that reflects her sharing in Christ’s suffering. Her seven sorrows — from the prophecy of Simeon to her presence at the foot of the Cross — have made her one of the most Compassionate and beloved figures in the Christian tradition. For centuries, Christians have turned to Our Lady of Sorrows for Comfort during Grief, Illness, and life’s most painful seasons, trusting in the loving care of a mother who understands sorrow through her own witness of Faith.
Together, Saint Peregrine and Our Lady of Sorrows remind Christians of the power of Prayer, compassionate intercession, and God’s loving presence through seasons of illness, grief, and suffering. Their witness encourages Faith, Hope, and trust that God remains close in every season of life.
